Jamestown ND to Roosevelt National Park

Sunflowers are a native
North American Plant and a short-
season crop. Grown mostly in NorthDakota,
South Dakota, Kansas and Minnesota.
The seed is a source of transfat-free
vegetable oil.

We are at a lookout from the Medora ND
side of the T. Roosevelt Natl Park. We
are heading to Prairie Dog Town.
Steve and Betty at the same overlook.
This day we see prairie dogs and bison.
Prairie Dog Town in the North Dakota
Badlands. Looks like a lunarscape. A "coterie"
consists of one adult and several females and
offspring. There can be up to 50-60  burrows
in an acre.
Prarie dogs are actually rodents
and  related to squirrels
These "dogs" are small and weigh
about 3 lbs. They identify each other
from a kiss or sniff. They are cohesive
and close knit.

The above 3 pictures are of bison
in the Theodore Roosevelot National Park
near Medora North Dakota. The middle
picture is of a bull bison about 1200-1500 lbs
and it was stompin' and snortin' at the passerbys
in their vehicles. They can be very dangerous
due to their quickness.
