Mammoth Hot Springs Terraces

Liberty Cap is a 37 foot cone looking
formation named in 1871 by the
Hayden Survey party. To them it resembled
the peak caps worn during the French Revolution.
Another view of Liberty Cap. Seen
in the distance is Fort Yellowstone which
was started in 1890. Prior to 1890
superintendents managed the National Park
with little help to control animal poachers and souvenir hunters.

Minerva Terrace - named after
Roman goddess. Its ornate travertine formations
create a look of layer cakes and pools.

Rustic Falls is a little
fall 47 ft high.
The nearby Golden Gate Canyon and Golden Gate Bridge
are closely connected to Rustic Falls.
Golden Gate Bridge at Yellowstone today.
Since the 1900's two concrete bridges replaced
the original rickety wooden bridge.
